Pharmacy Technician Specialist - Full Time - Product Line - Detroit

Exciting opportunity to join Henry Ford Health as a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, an advanced Pharmacy Technician. This position will be based in our Centralized Pharmacy Services Center (CPSC).

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Location: Detroit Michigan

Eligible for Full Time Benefits

Under the direction of the Department Director or Manager, coordinates and facilitates operations in our receiving area and works closely with other key departments areas such as automation, business office and information services and other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Approximately 65% of responsibilities are related to automation and associated activities. Other duties maybe assigned as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Participants as a full member of project teams, interacting with other individuals within our department to assure operational objectives are met
  • Scanning medications received from our wholesaler into our inventory management system.
  • Validate if medication is included into our Pyxis and EMR system. * Reconciling the receipt of medications into our Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) software.
  • Barcoding of medications.
  • Other duties may include repacking of bulk medications, sorting and packing medications for delivery.
  • Inspecting incoming deliveries, verifying against purchase orders, and ensuring accuracy of shipments.
  • Storing medications properly, adhering to temperature requirements, and ensuring that expired medications are properly handled.
  • Adhering to all relevant regulations and policies related to pharmaceutical inventory management including DSCSA (ConsortiEX)
  • Works with department leadership to design and implement process changes in assigned focus areas
  • Works with various reporting databases within Automated Dispensing Units, mainly Pyxis

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Requires high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Requires at least (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Two (2) years of experience with automated pharmacy dispensing systems preferred.
  • PC skills as needed to perform job functions as assigned.
  • Strong verbal/written skills; availability for on-call system support; high analytical ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
  • Flexibility to deal with ever-changing health care environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure required.
