Job Summary:



Seeking a full-time Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional at the entry, intermediate or senior level to join a research laboratory within the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to projects exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in pulmonary vascular remodeling and the response of the lung vasculature to hypoxia and other injuries, utilizing an array of complementary approaches.

The Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional should be highly motivated and able to work independently but cooperatively within a research laboratory environment. The position requires exceptional organizational skills, record-keeping abilities, and attention to detail. The Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the research team and is expected to fully participate in laboratory meetings and journal clubs.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results.
  • Breed and maintain rodent colonies, including genotyping and record keeping.
  • Perform animal modeling tasks, tissue harvests, cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell culture, molecular-based techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR), and antibody/protein-based techniques (immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and imaging).
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, preparing common solutions and stocks, placing laboratory orders, and contributing to laboratory compliance.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:



  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.




Intermediate Level:



  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.


  • One (1) year professional level research experience.


Senior Level:



  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.


  • Two (2) years professional level research experience.


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of laboratory experience.
  • Extensive experience with animal handling and modeling, molecular techniques, and flow cytometry.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR and mammalian cell culture.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Good understanding and experimental skills in Molecular Biology.
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot new experiments.
  • Ability to analyze and present data in a publishable manner.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry Level: $46,274 - $58,861

Intermediate Level: $50,357 - $64,054

Senior Level: $54,440 - $69,248

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
