Scope of Position

Responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of third-party cost report filings, for a large academic Medical Center with over 600 GME/IME FTEs, $23,000,000 of Medicare DSH reimbursement, and a PPS Exempt Cancer Hospital. Provides critical analytical and reimbursement support for the reimbursement function including Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party cost report activities such as audits, appeals, DSH, 340(b), and payment rate analysis. Develop expertise in reimbursement processes and financial reporting systems. Develops reimbursement related reports and analyses to for reimbursement leadership. Understands the reporting systems and requirements and accurately and efficiently compiles data needed for cost report schedules. Responsible for preparing the annual forecast of the third-party reimbursement for the budget. Prepares Medicare and Medicaid Settlement estimates and performs reconciliation and variance analysis of third-party liability accounts. Provides supporting work papers and documentation for third-party inquiries along with reimbursement and regulatory analysis on Health System projects. Responsible for Hospital Wage Index and Uncompensated Care Reporting and audits. Responsible for year-end financial audit of third-party balance sheet account.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director, Finance Healthcare Reimbursement, the Finance Reimbursement Assistant Director is responsible for the annual filing of third-party cost reports and providing financial analysis for special projects. The Assistant Director is responsible for achieving accurate third-party reimbursement for the Hospital. The Reimbursement Assistant Director is required to use the extensive interpersonal skills in communicating with all management levels of the University.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with a major in Accounting or Finance and 10 years of hospital reimbursement experience including healthcare financial and cost report preparation experience. CPA certification desired.
