About the Job.
JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Development Associate to join our Development team located in San Diego, CA. The role of the Development Associate is to assist in coordinating all aspects of development projects from due diligence through construction. The position reports to the Vice President, Development responsible for development in the Western Region.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Responsibilities include assisting in the management and coordination of development projects including:
Maintaining the financial proformas, budgets, and schedules for development projects throughout predevelopment and construction Site due diligence investigation for sites under control and under contract Internal investment committee preparation Entitlement processing Assist the Development Managers and Development Directors with the duties of owner's representative through construction Maintain positive civic and governmental relations throughout the Western Region Monitor and assist in the preparation of necessary reporting regarding project projections, budget variances and loan draw requests Monitor and assist in the management of project economics and understand the financial proforma of each deal Assist Design team with the engagement and oversight of design consultants, design review and proposal coordination/review Work closely with Development Managers and Development Directors to ensure that business plan production goals are achieved.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance, Accounting, or Real Estate is preferred. 4-6 experience with Real Estate development, multi-family development experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in underwriting potential development opportunities, working with municipalities/approval agencies, market analytics. Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

California General Base Pay Range Note that the actual base pay offered will be contingent upon the candidate's overall experience, skills, internal existing associate equity, and overall budget of the Company at the time of offer.
