Summary:

The Sunoco LP Commercial Business Development team is seeking a professional with a degree in accounting, finance, engineering, science or economics, possessing a background in refined fuel supply chain. Specific expertise in the blending and trading of marine bunker fuels across Northeast, Southeast, USGC and Caribbean markets is a plus. Additionally, candidate will support specific business development objectives for jet fuel, diesel, and government contracts. Successful candidate will report directly to Sr. Director Commercial Business Development and ultimately transition to Commercial Supply and Trading.

Job Functions



  • Primary responsibility of developing and implementing new bunker fuels business opportunities. Additional focus on optimizing existing Sunoco terminal capacity, new terminal lease opportunities, and purchasing and reselling marine gas oil, jet fuel and diesel. Candidate is comfortable with the Commercial Business Development goal of generating $100 million of EBITDA in the next 3-5 years.
  • Ideal candidate would have a deep understanding of complex supply and trading transactions, marine operations, risk management, strategic planning and business development. Additionally, the candidate would have key relationships with suppliers, ship brokers and marine bunker fuels users across multiple regions.
  • Support Commercial Business Development team and fuel supply directors and managers in procuring lowest cost products. Activities include identifying opportunities to develop new markets, performing analyses of market economics against a multitude of benchmarks, discussing the results of analyses, thoughtfully communicating key opportunities, obtaining management approval, driving implementation and measuring results.
  • Work with logistics team to identify key tank lease opportunities with a strategy supported by sound economics and assumptions.
  • Negotiate supply spot and term deals including risk exposure, communicate to Supply and Trading, and perform duties in Right Angle.


Skills/Knowledge



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in fuel supply and trading
  • Ability to purchase and resell marine gas oil, jet and diesel fuels
  • Deep understanding of the marine bunker fuels sales process across multiple regions
  • Relationships with key industry participants
  • Knowledge of U.S. fuels supply chain including term and spot markets
  • Ability to establish quick rapport or relationships both internally and externally
  • Must be an independent, self-starting professional with the ability to drive results
  • Team player, excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work collaboratively across many functional teams.
