Position Summary

Seeking individual for summer internship for the Supply Chain Environmental Sustainability (SCES) Program in PG&E's Procurement Organization. If you are passionate about utility-proven substitutes for constrained materials and equipment, procurement strategies that minimize cost, waste, and extend resource lifecycle through upgrades, refurbishment, repair, repurpose, and reuse, and in-field processes to reduce project time, environmental impact and improve safety, this could be a good fit for you.

A primary responsibility of this role will be to support development of the Supply Chain Sustainability Playbook, including research related to sustainable evaluation criteria for procurement, currently available sustainable alternatives, prioritized materials, evaluation of options, and assessment of bridge strategies and technology readiness.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.57 to $26.02.

Responsibilities

  • Research related to sustainable alternatives
  • Collaboration with the SCES team to work with PG&E functional areas and sourcing to set GHG reduction goals / net zero targets
  • Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, reaching out to suppliers, analyzing, and documenting key performance metrics
  • Benchmarking greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions of various implementations, pilot projects, and development of sustainable alternatives database.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Business, Biology, Chemistry or other related fields at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship

Desired:

  • Background and interest in circular economy considerations and how circularity principles can be integrated into the electric and gas domestic supply chains
  • Detail-oriented, methodical research approach
  • Background relevant to Supply Chain Sustainability Playbook
