As a Senior Patient Care Coordinator, we are often the first point of contact for our patients and their families. As such we value representing an important first impression. Our professionalism, expertise and dedication help ensure that our patients receive the quality of care they need. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, this enable us to provide high quality, compassionate health care service to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay. Positions may be available in the following areas: Emergency Room, Operating Room, Outpatient, Infusion, Maternal Child and Transplant Services.

Shifts will be based on the specific department. Employees are required to work any typical 10-12 hour shift 7:00AM - 5:30PM on any day of the week including the flexibility to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays which could vary based on business need and additional information will be provided during the interview process. This is an onsite position at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. This position will be at our office located at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center (MGMC), 3555 S VAL VISTA DR, GILBERT, AZ, 85297. We offer 3 weeks of paid training.

Both locations offer shift differentials for afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends as well as on call pay. We have an onsite cafeteria and gift shop with employee discounts as well as an onsite Starbucks and free parking. Performance based bonuses are also available.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Communicates directly with patients and / or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, collecting co-payments, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits
  • Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter, access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
  • Generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Intermediate level of understanding of insurance policies and procedures
  • Intermediate level of experience working with requesting and processing financial payments and the ability to perform basic calculations for payment
  • Ability to work onsite at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center
  • Ability to work any 10 to 12-hour shifts from 7:00am - 5:30PM on any day of the week including the flexibility to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays which could vary based on business need and additional information will be provided during the interview process


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital OR medical setting
  • 1+ years of experience working in an Emergency Department setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and patient care settings

The salary range for this role is $19.86 to $38.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
