The Role:

Suffolk, a vertically integrated general contractor and investment business in the US, is seeking an experienced transformation director to lead its Artificial Intelligence enablement for the organization. The ideal candidate should have strong business acumen, high levels of creativity and problem solving, and a track record of influencing leaders and driving enterprise change. They also need to be highly collaborative, as this role will involve close work with existing resources within the broader organization to drive progress, as well as being flexible to a dynamic and high paced work environment. Experience working in, or knowledge of, the A/E or construction environment is highly desirable, but not required.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

    Developing AI roadmap in line with Strategic Goals
  • Leading the identification and evaluation of AI use cases that add significant value to the business.
  • Developing and refining the AI strategy, ensuring that all areas requiring further definition are clearly articulated.
  • Overseeing the delivery of AI initiatives, assessing their value realization, and escalating any issues to the Technology Strategy Council.
  • Promoting transparency and fostering effective internal communication regarding AI initiatives across the organization.

Driving AI Delivery and Value Capture

  • Oversee and maintain a centralized pipeline for AI initiatives, ensuring seamless progression from ideation through to completion.
  • Lead the evaluation of the most effective delivery models, whether it be building in-house, buying solutions, or partnering with external providers, and determine whether standalone or platform-based approaches are optimal.
  • Coordinate with decentralized delivery teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of AI initiatives, fostering collaboration and alignment across the organization.
  • If required, lead the process of productizing scalable AI applications to ensure they are ready for widespread deployment and use.
  • Drive change management efforts to embed AI capabilities into existing workflows, focusing on functional integration and collaborating with Operations Excellence for smooth operational transitions.

Building AI Fluency at Scale

  • Develop and implement standardized processes for AI project delivery to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all AI initiatives.
  • Define and implement comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing AI literacy and capabilities within Suffolk, empowering employees with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage AI effectively.
  • Work closely with the AI Expert Group to facilitate technical knowledge exchange and ensure alignment on tools, methodologies, and best practices, fostering a cohesive and informed approach to AI across the organization.

Team Leadership

  • Design and build a team to deliver against the objectives, identifying the critical skills and capabilities required. Define how the team will interface with the rest of the organization to ensure seamless collaboration and integration.
  • Recruit, integrate, and mentor team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute effectively to the team's goals.
  • Develop team members by providing ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Be an inspirational leader who motivates and guides the team towards achieving excellence in AI initiatives.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in technology-related roles, ideally including AI development and implementation
  • Proven track record of leadership in AI, digital or technology efforts, covering the full cycle from strategy to implementation
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, or related fields is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking and experience in developing and executing technology strategies that drive business results
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, integrate, mentor, and develop team members
  • Inspirational leadership skills to motivate and guide the team towards achieving excellence in AI initiatives
  • Deep understanding of AI applications, tools, and methodologies
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and advancements in AI and related fields

Working Conditions
