Position Summary:

The Security Guard will be responsible for the safety and well-being of staff and clients at our Next Generation Center located at 1522 Southern Blvd., BX, NY location. This includes monitoring cameras, door access, foot patrols and assisting with all emergency operations at the direction of the Bronx Campus Security Manager.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Continuously manage and monitor the entrances and exits of facility. Greet visitors, youth, and staff in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Promotes overall safety and security awareness throughout the site including the lobby and reception area during working hours, issuing visitor passes and checking out visitors.
  • Professional and courteous while providing exceptional service and appropriate assistance in an expediate manner to all visitors, youth and staff.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with the ability to make quick decisions and handle any conflicts.
  • Provide support to staff when dealing with disruptive or inappropriate behavior as needed or instructed diplomatically and professionally.
  • Observe activities and report irregularities to the Bronx Campus Security Manager and NGC site Director.
  • Conducts regular foot patrols of both the interior and exterior direct perimeter areas of the site, checking for trespassers, vandalism and suspicious activity. Check for signs of intrusion ensuring the security of doors, windows and gates.
  • Responds to all emergencies and crisis situations within the "Bronx Campus" through direction of the Bronx Campus Security Manager and/or Lead Security Guard.


  • Learn and follow all existing safety/security protocols, ensuring the safety of staff and clients in the building.


  • Escorts staff to safety as needed. Assists with arranging car service as needed.
  • Serves and takes an active role on the emergency response team. Assists with fire and other emergency drills.


  • Recognize and reports signs of misconduct such as alcohol or drug use, and potential criminal activity or concerns involving clients and/or families.
  • Regularly reports to the assigned post on time.
  • Adheres to and is in alignment with the uniform dress code for all Bronx Campus security.


  • Receptive to coaching and participates in trainings and development as needed.
  • Submits a Children's Aid Reportable Event for irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, unusual occurrences, violent critical incidents or any other security/safety incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Professional Development:



  • Participate in offered trainings and workshops such as Active Shooter, De-escalation, CPR/AED and all other trainings offered. Attend and take part in Children's Aid "All-Staff" conferences.
  • Maintain certification requirements (NYS DOS security licensing) and provide proof of attendance/certification in all professional training/activities.


Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED:



  • 2 years of experience as a security officer.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite computer skills required, particularly email and calendar and E-Visitor check-in systems.


  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Current and up to date CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • Flexible, on-time and regular attendance required.


  • Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment.
