$26.35 to $28.99 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Cocoa Transit Center. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings and Saturdays. Performs experienced professional work developing and conducting routine and specialized commercial driver license (CDL), P endorsement, and safety training, in accordance with all applicable state laws and regulations, for the Transit Services Department.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field PLUS two (2) years of experience operating various types of passenger buses and/or or CDL-required vehicles; OR two (2) years of college coursework in Risk Management, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field PLUS four (4) years of experience operating various types of passenger buses and/or CDL-required vehicles; OR six (6) years of experience operating various types of passenger buses and/or CDL-required vehicles. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis. Experience conducting hands-on vehicle operation and classroom-structured safety-oriented training courses, in a transit program or similar environment, is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial driver's license with a P endorsement, with no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment, and maintain said license during the term of employment. All candidates selected for an interview must be able to successfully complete a practical skills test and effectively demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively operate the full fleet of transit vehicles in order to move to the next step of the selection process. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
