Position Summary:

As a Product Owner within Affinity Solutions Technology, you will oversee the strategy and growth of Affinity systems, including supporting web applications and services. You will define your product vision and roadmap and serve as the Product Owner on an Affinity agile team. The ideal candidate for this role must adeptly manage multiple high-priority projects while remaining flexible to seize emerging opportunities with both Affinity Solutions US and Securian Canada. This role will work closely with Product Owners inside and outside of Affinity Solutions Technology, and partner with engineering, testing, and other teams to deliver on important outcomes.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Technology teams, business partners, and others to elicit, analyze and understand needs, constraints, and risks to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Engage and collaborate with team members and stakeholders to create and manage agile artifacts (e.g., Product Roadmap, Backlog, Release Plan) and information needed for prioritization and decision-making.
  • Elicit internal and external customer feedback, new ideas, and enhancement requests using a variety of methods (i.e., interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, etc.).
  • Translate business and systems requirements to product backlog items with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Transform business objectives and product strategies, together with the needs of customers, into specific actionable, prioritized requirements for technology team(s).
  • Drive day-to-day product ownership decisions by prioritizing and maintaining the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing input from stakeholders, customers, and engineering partners to best align with agreed upon Affinity product outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with business and engineering partners to ensure alignment between business goals and product development.
  • In partnership with the Affinity Product Manager, and with input from your business and technology partners, create a compelling product vision. Using that vision, develop and execute on a product roadmap with a focus on measurable outcomes, tracking and regularly sharing progress with stakeholders and team.
  • Continuously measure product performance using tools and metrics and iterate based on findings.
  • Display adaptability, navigating challenges with strategic foresight and clear decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership skills to gain credibility, garner respect, guide the creation of a self-organizing team and be assertive with business priorities and opposing viewpoints while adhering to agile concepts and principles.
  • Working knowledge of Product Management practices.
  • Working knowledge of agile practices. Understands the fundamentals of iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team, facilitate discussion, advocate for team, and negotiate with business/corporate areas, mentor/coach team members, and resolve conflict.
  • Solid analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations.
  • Strategic thinker, analytical and results driven.
  • Strong knowledge of technical concepts, architectural principles to drive scalable solutions.
  • Know how to influence teams to deliver great customer experience without authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a product owner with the ability to demonstrate realized business value and outcomes, or experience in helping product owners do the same.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner or equivalent designation.
  • Expertise with policy admin system.
  • Experience with JIRA.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$84,000.00 - $155,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
