Location: Downtown Miami, FL. What you will do We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to join our team in Miami, Florida, this is a site-based position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. How you will do it
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in commercial buildings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on HVAC systems.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Familiar with current industry advancements, standards, and best practices.
- Perform other facility maintenance tasks and repairs as needed.
- Monitor and perform Q/A & Q/C inspections of work by service providers and contractors.
- Properly report, document, and complete routine and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Respond to, resolve, and rectify emergency response maintenance service requests.
What we look for Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
- Valid HVAC technician certification (EPA 608 certification required or Universal Certification).
- Ability to perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC installation and repair.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and controls.
- Awareness of chilled water pumps, motors and impellers, VAV's, VFD's, exhaust and pressurization fans, DOAS units, AHU's, split systems, mini-splits, and condensate pumps.
- Awareness of electrical systems and proper electrical safety procedures.
- Awareness of chilled water plumbing systems, valves, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of hand tools and specialized equipment.
- Safety-first mindset with the ability to adhere to Johnson Controls Inc. safety regimen, S.O.P's, and trainings.
- Ability to work weekends and after hours.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Preferred
- Experience with advanced HVAC systems and controls.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient HVAC technologies.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to train and mentor technicians.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and Johnson Controls Inc. Metasys Systems.
- Journeyman level technician with Miami-Dade County, State of Florida, or other Florida municipality.
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
- OSHA 10 & 30 certified.
