Position Description:




The UW-Platteville Soil Health, Ecological Enhancement, and Restoration (SHEER) lab seeks an undergraduate research assistant to help carry out soil health and restoration-related research activities under supervision of Dr. Chris Baxter, Professor of Ecological Restoration and Resource Management.



Job Duties:





  • Complete necessary training to conduct field work on lands designated on the EPA's National Priorities List (HAZWOPER 40-Hr Training)
  • Assist with research plot layout, application of soil amendments, and seeding
  • Collect soil and plant samples following established standard procedures
  • Perform laboratory analysis with minimal supervision
  • Assist with data entry and analysis


Requirements



  • Valid U.S. Driver's license and eligible to drive University vehicles
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
