Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (
UCHC) is seeking a Regional Nurse Manager to support the Northern State Prison, located in Newark, NJ.
The Regional Nurse Manager will have the authority, accountability and responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of nursing care within the Department of Corrections' (
DOC) Facilities.
Duties include:
- Interprets and translates the theoretical concepts of nursing and provides leadership into the delivery of nursing services for inmates. Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances goals and objectives and mission of University Correctional HealthCare and the DOC.
- Plans the delivery of comprehensive health care within the assigned facilities according to the framework established by the corrections system and agreements
- Organizes the delivery of health care and implement nursing functions within the corrections environment to achieve quality and efficient utilization of resources
- Develops resources to provide nursing services that meet applicable standards and participates in the development or
revision of policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, as well as demonstrated strong nursing specialty experience.
- Graduate of an accredited state approved School of Nursing
- Five (5) years of progressively more responsible nursing experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management nursing experience within the nursing profession.

- Licensed as an RN in the State of New Jersey.
CPR Certification.- Must have valid drivers license.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Possesses own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's Degree in Nursing preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
Ability to move from unit to unit within secure care or community residential home facilities requiring walks, bends, stretches, pushes, and pulls. Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities |
