Job Summary

Assists Departmental and Operations staff members in their duties, thereby providing the Undergrad Intern the opportunity to learn about the functions and activities of their Department while contributing valuable work to the City.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assists by performing a variety of tasks and participating in short-term and long-term projects.
  • Assists hiring Department with administrative or clerical support when needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with report writing, research methods, and data compilation and analysis.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a group setting.
  • Familiarity with standard computer software for word processing and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a community college or undergraduate program is required. Skill with the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Outlook highly desirable. Excellent written, analytic, and verbal communication skills required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City staff and vendors.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Good planning, organizing, problem solving and time-management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain the absolute confidentiality of all sensitive materials accessed, discussed or observed while in the performance of duties.
