Overview

We are seeking a Cardiac Step-Down Registered Nurse (Nights). A Cardiac Step-Down RN is a registered nurse who specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. They offer an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor. These nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination.

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 (Two payout options available)

Shift's Available: Nights ($4 to $8 differential in pay)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • monitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect any changes or abnormalities, which is crucial for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, heart attacks, or other cardiac conditions
  • administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain management medications
  • perform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical assessments, review medical histories, and evaluate symptoms
  • provide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices
  • React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, necessitating immediate implementation of emergency procedures, administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and aiding in defibrillation and other crucial life-saving measures


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current valid State Registered Nurse License.
  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
