Position Overview:VAS Electro-Mechanical Technician will perform tasks associated with servicing, repairing, calibrating and coordinating the repair or replacement of electro-mechanical equipment used in the production of value-added assemblies. The Technician will train workers in the proper operation of equipment and in the measurement/inspection of produced assemblies. The Technician will also communicate with appropriate contacts to support the VAS area's technical needs.

This is an essential onsite role that requires regular onsite attendance.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. OR 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and monitor existing cable and battery pack assembly machines
  • Procure and maintain a readily available inventory of spare parts and spare perishable tooling for all VAS equipment
  • Oversee assembly and testing of all VAS work orders to ensure correct and efficient production i.e. Headers, Jumpers, Fans, Flat Flex Cable, 3M Cables, Hirose, Batteries and Heat Shrink
  • Inspect the quality of a product assembled upon business request
  • Collaborate in VAS cross-functional projects and initiatives with internal contributors
  • Serve as tech support for new and existing VAS products and assemblies
  • Communicate VAS needs concerning DigiKey machinery and tooling with external contributors
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, research equipment and replacement part options
  • Read and evaluate CAD drawings for customer specific assemblies, identify potential errors and communicate applicable changes to PDC Techs
  • Verify the VAS department's mechanical ability to produce specified assemblies with available resources
  • Work with management to determine ability and ROI of adding new tooling for requested assemblies
  • Determine training criteria for VAS operators for setup, cleaning, and basic maintenance of VAS machinery
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for VAS equipment
  • Review and develop physical, electrical, and visual testing procedures to ensure quality product is sold

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology or degree with an Electro-Mechanical focus (preferred)
  • 2+ years' experience in mechanical and/or electrical positions
  • Competent in using recommended tools and precision measuring devices
  • Ability to source equipment and parts for production use
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn CAD software
  • PC skills with the ability to establish and maintain data/records and produce reports
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong trouble shooting, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as be a team player

Physical Requirements:
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Ability to twist or bend and occasionally climb stairs
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motion
  • Capable of spending 8-10 hours walking/standing on concrete
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder height
Compensation:

The starting base pay rate for this position is:

$24.40
