In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of McKinsey's Political Action Committee (PAC), including managing fundraisers, processing contributions, and handling the disbursement of funds as approved by the PAC Board. Together with the Director of Federal Affairs, you will establish both short- and long-term goals, creating and executing strategies and communication plans to drive engagement and growth.

Your Impact
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of McKinsey's Political Action Committee (PAC), including managing fundraisers, processing contributions, and handling the disbursement of funds as approved by the PAC Board. Together with the Director of Federal Affairs, you will establish both short- and long-term goals, creating and executing strategies and communication plans to drive engagement and growth.
You will develop recognition programs to enhance contributions, retain donors, and drive higher levels of engagement.
Additionally, you will provide staffing and support for monthly PAC Governance Board meetings and annual PAC Board meetings, including coordinating schedules, drafting agendas, preparing meeting materials, and generating report-outs.
Tracking all contribution requests and ensuring that records of disbursements are up to date will be an essential part of your role. You will also collaborate with the Head of Public Affairs and Public Affairs Directors to design, execute, and coordinate PAC-sponsored fundraising events through engaging senior executives and elected officials.
Compliance will be a key focus, and you work closely with the Ethics & Compliance, Legal teams, and outside counsel to manage all aspects of PAC-related compliance, including Federal Election Commission filings, tax filings, audits, and other disclosure requirements. You will also manage relationships with external consultants and vendors.
Representing the Firm at select political events, you will amplify McKinsey's insights and values, while also initiating and managing special campaigns aimed at strengthening the Firm's relationships with elected officials and policymakers.
Your Growth
You will join a group of global public affairs professionals in McKinsey's Washington, DC Office who work to position the Firm as a key knowledge partner for policymakers, foster robust relationships with these policymakers and stakeholders, and leverage our expertise to help navigate complex global challenges.
Through partnership with senior leaders and stakeholders the team also works across firm functions where you will serve as a leader for your program and will drive the execution of best-in-class and inaugural political engagement program for our nearly century old institution.
Our Public Affairs team is part of the Firm's Reach and Engagement (R&E) function. Collectively, the colleagues in R&E help ensure that appropriate insights reach designated audiences, building awareness and engagement with McKinsey's distinctive knowledge on a variety of topics. They shape the way the Firm connects with people-from clients to Firm members to alumni-strengthening institutional relationships, connections, and affiliations.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's/University degree required
  • 5+years of Government Relations, Public Affairs or Political experience, or equivalent, including at least 3 years managing a corporate or trade association PAC
  • Strong understanding of FEC campaign finance rules and regulations as they relate to corporations
  • Experience creating and maintaining accurate budgets, schedules and timelines for projects
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and Firm related tools (Slack) and PAC Management Tools
  • Proficiency and fluency in verbal and written English is required
  • Excellent skillset across relevant communication service lines and platforms (e.g., external/internal comms, media relations, events, executive comms)
  • Outstanding communication skills across formats (e.g., written, verbal/presentation, digital-ready content) and ability to apply them to develop and execute a strategy across portfolio of communications channels
  • Ability to manage various projects simultaneously and work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced and ambiguous operating environment, while driving for quality implementation and excellence
  • Excellent ability to influence colleagues, and manage needs of different stakeholders (including relevant senior leaders)
  • Outstanding critical reasoning and problem-solving skills, including ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to create psychological safety and inclusion within teams, enabling a collaborative environment
