Overview
Collect delinquent and charged off loan accounts and assist with overall delinquency control. Coordinate various aspects of the sale of repossessed collateral at auction. Process credit counseling proposals and payments. Monitor UG home equity loan report and file claims. Process THDA assisted mortgage payments. #LI-Onsite
Responsibilities
Review daily delinquency queue and follow-up on delinquent accounts by telephone and written correspondence. Contact co-makers, co-borrowers and guarantors.
- Skiptrace, Accurint, The Work Number, and Credit Report.
- Collect charged off accounts.
- Collect attorney fees and collection expenses.
- Remove lines of credit and request Adverse Action Notices.
- Submit accounts for legal action or foreclosure. Upon receipt of judgment, request aliases, garnishments, and executions to be issued by legal department.
- Hotcard ATM and debit cards.
- Submit accounts to recovery agency for repossession of collateral.
- Make arrangements for surrender of collateral.
- Process repossession of collateral. Skiptrace to locate collateral.
- Update information to the credit bureaus.
- Post judgment and attorney checks.
- Post bankruptcy checks and perform account maintenance.
- Review monthly PMI Report.
- Process returned mail to locate current address.
- Research accounts, as necessary, including bankruptcy, estate claims, and charge-offs.
- Maintain weekly reports including Work Report, Collection Incentive, and Charge-offs.
- Arrange for sale of repossessed collateral and print and mail Notice of Sale.
- Process and arrange sale of out of state repossessions.
- Determine values and opening bids of repossessed collateral.
- Pay expenses, post proceeds from sale of repossessed collateral, and mail deficiency letters.
- Research and respond to notification of impounded or confiscated vehicles and mechanic liens.
- Submit for GAP claims and process proceeds, when applicable.
- Evaluate repossessed collateral for potential loss due to collision damage and maintain quarterly report.
- Apply for add-on refunds and process proceeds, when applicable.
- Balance collection general ledger accounts.
- Complete New Auto Policy Report.
- Complete Monthly Repo and Repo Sold Reports.
- Complete Potential Loss for Uninsured Collateral Report.
- Balance Collection general ledger accounts.
- Monitor delinquent home equity loan insurance report and file claims, as necessary.
- Process THDA assisted mortgage payments and complete monthly report, as necessary.
- Train Collectors.
- Review Credit Counseling proposals for approval, maintenance accounts, and post credit counseling payments, as necessary.
- Maintain/update Collections Manual.
- Provide support to front office employees with delinquent and charged-off loans, returned checks, and charged-off share draft account matters, repossessions, share-loss accounts, bankruptcy accounts and levies.
- Read all internal publications including Source and Possibilities.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
- One to three years of similar or related experience. One year of credit union experience desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal communication skills to communicate professionally.
- A high degree of poise and tact to represent the credit union positively in outside contacts.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimum supervision.
- Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and the internet desired.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Ability to operate or have ability to be trained to operate related office equipment, including calculator, check and receipt printers, computer terminal (PC), multifunction copier, telephone and typewriter.
