GENERAL FUNCTION
The Director of Business Planning is responsible for planning, budgeting, and forecasting sales for the North America Lens Independent Channel and Regional Key Accounts Channels, making up over $1 billion of business. This person will be critical in partnering with the SVPs in driving the strategy of the channel of trade (COT) by making recommendations based on sales analytics and leveraging resources available.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Key business partner of the Sales Executive to establish and implement sales planning function.
- Deliver growth objectives by using sales and financial analytics to help the Sales team in building business plans that meet the financial goals of the channel.
- Manage the Independent and Regional Key Accounts Channel Business Planner(s) in analyzing and forecasting sales targets (volume incoming & shipped + sales) on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis for the COT.
- Establish and align with Finance on sales forecast, P&L, and cost of sales compared to budget expectation on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
- Establish and align with Marketing on brand forecast compared to budget expectation on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
- Establish and align with Lab Operations on weekly incoming forecast in collaboration and consultation with Independent and Regional Key Account SVP
- Participate in key stakeholder meetings with the commercial leadership (VPs and SVPs) to discuss sales performance against forecast and budget.
- Establish and plays an active role in the annual budget process by planning and coordinating with sales leadership team and cross functional teams to ensure key deliverables and deadlines to SVP Sales, Planning, and Finance are upheld.
- Strategize with Sales SVP to create specific proposals and project planning based upon terms and expectations being negotiated; Work with internal resources to evaluate the potential profitability of each project.
- Develop and deliver executive-ready presentation that tells a story backed by numerical insights.
- Monitor brand sales trends and customer segmentation strategies across all Independent and Regional Key Account Optical Channel and provide ad-hoc demand analytics to support key initiatives.
- Partners closely with internal departments in designing, maintaining and monitoring reports and trackers needed, related to sales, orders, and inventory.
- Designs sales tools to maximize Sales KPIs
- Collaborates closely Lab Operations with monitoring the COT demand and actual sales
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree - Business Administration
- Minimum 10+ years' experience in Business Administration, Project management and/or strategy management/consulting
- FP&A, wholesale sales, retail sales, merchandising or related experience in the optical (lens/ lab) industry
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, yet deliver strong execution
- Extensive business partnering and influencing skills
- Ability to quickly identify areas of opportunity, research creative solutions and implement new processes to address
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Has a strong sense of urgency - ability to work within the high expectation of the company, team, and clients.
- Ability to solve various types of problems that may involve multiple departments within the Company
- Experience managing people.
- Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Familiarity with a legacy database system, such as SAP, AS400, Business Objects
- Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills
