Almac Group is currently seeking a Head of Business Development (US) for our Audubon, PA location. The Head of Business Development (US) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the US business development team, ensuring the team is suitably resourced, skilled, supported and motivated to professionally represent Almac Pharma Services and ensure annual targets for new business are met or exceeded.
The role also involves working closely with the senior management team in Pharma Services to review strategies to improve win rates and contribution margins from new & existing business, and also to review Global market trends and develop new service offerings in line with strategic growth plans of the business.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the US business development team ensuring a pipeline of new business opportunities is developed and maintained that will meet or exceed annually defined sales targets.


  • Collaborate with operational colleagues to target appropriate business opportunities and foster positive partnerships for onboarding new clients. This involves coordinating with different departments to identify potential areas for growth and working closely with team members to develop strategies that align with company goals. This collaborative approach not only enhances client satisfaction but also promotes long-term partnerships and drives business success.


  • Continually review territory coverage and ensure the Business Development team are suitably skilled and resourced to prospect for new business opportunities.


  • Ensure BD KPI reports are maintained and presented to Pharma Senior Management as required and provide clear and logically assessed recommendations to senior stakeholders.


  • Ensure that all potential conversion opportunities are appropriately managed to maximize the win rates on all proposals. Also ensure that all margin contributions from new business opportunities meet company expectations and additionally ensure that project scopes of work are continually assessed and that all extension requests and opportunities are captured and appropriately covered with formal proposals.


  • Oversee the development of the customer base and business strategy of Almac Pharma Services through identifying and following up on potential business opportunity leads, utilizing contacts, current customer base, Group customer base, referrals or 'cold call' introductions., and conducting, as necessary, desk research and analysis of market trends including collating appropriate target market data to identify target markets and customer leads.


  • Working with Corporate Contracts, ensure suitable legal agreements are established or updated for all new business wins.



Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:


  • BSc (or equivalent) qualification in a Science related discipline OR BSc (or equivalent) qualification in a Business Management related discipline with significant experience within the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Previous 5+ years experience within a Business Development, Client/Account Management or Technical Project Management role within the Pharmaceutical industry.


Preferred Experience / Education:


  • MSc or MBA (or equivalent) qualification.

  • Line management experience leading Business Development individuals


  • Previous 5+ experience with costing and proposal generation.


  • Previous experience in managing Business Development teams.
