Position Overview

Riverside Research is offering a paid internship opportunity, with potential to transition into a future hire, to support Foreign Investment and Supply Chain Risk Analysis and Research in support of national security projects. The intern will contribute to rapid due diligence analysis and risk assessments for various U.S. government projects and stakeholders. Qualified candidates can anticipate challenging and rewarding responsibilities at the intersection of business, national security, and emerging technologies. The candidate will take part in national security matters where the candidate's research and analysis will lead to the development of unique and insightful information that helps various DoD stakeholders make informed acquisition and security decisions. Location is flexible, but ideal candidates are in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Austin, or Washington D.C.



Responsibilities

    Use diverse analytical tools, open-source resources, and databases to conduct rapid due diligence research and analysis into commercial business' financial and investment networks as well as supplier relationships. Implement secure open-source research methods as required.
  • Identify, evaluate, and present findings related to adversarial financial and business relationships surrounding early-stage vendors to publicly traded companies involved in emerging tech sectors, to include diligence on venture capital firms, defense-related academic grants, and other related entities.
  • Project Support: responsible for timely and accurate completion of tasks and communications for the needs and successes of Program Managers.
  • Approximately 5-10% travel may be required as needed to meet mission objectives or to meet with commercial and stakeholder organizations.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of study in national security, global security, and experience in economic analysis, market intelligence, with insights into market dynamics and competitive landscapes; or a combination thereof and pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in International Relations, Economics, Business, or National Security.
  • Familiarization of various open-source research capabilities, methodologies to investment, particularly investment into small to medium size early-stage technology companies.
  • Applicants must demonstrate use of sound analytical tradecraft in product development and must be confident in giving briefings and presentations.
  • Understanding of critical, emerging, disruptive, or dual-use commercial technologies and ability to utilize government sanctions information in identifying potential risks to said technologies and their vendors or creators.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt quickly to changing demands from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Impeccable character and enduring integrity and comfortable with working behind the scenes.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military Reserves with experience working in US counterproliferation and counterintelligence functions.
  • Special Agent or CI Badging and Credentialing through formal U.S. Federal or DoD training academies. This includes, but is not limited to, training and field experience as an 1811, 1810, or 0132 or equivalent federal or DoD job designations.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of DoD and IC reporting, databases and associated systems, federal and/or DoD counterintelligence components, and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance; current clearance preferred but not required upon onboarding.


Global Comp

$26.00/hr - $34.00 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
