TOUCH UP MANUFACTURING OPERATOR

1st Shift (6:30am - 3pm)

The Touch Up Manufacturing Operator performs all operations required to fill aerosol cans or any containers under 6 fluid oz. This includes filling the containers, packaging of kits, and labeling.

The successful candidates will have an acceptable score on the math test.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assemble and hook up required equipment in order to fill containers to a specified weight.
  • Assemble proper labels and correct number of containers and attach labels according to company standards.
  • Complete proper documentation (such as a fill slip) correctly and accurately. Enter data into computer.
  • Identify product numbers and corresponding batch numbers.
  • Stack and transport finished product to shipping department.
  • Clean up and properly store equipment used. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Under supervision and with proper PPE, the employee will be required to handle hazardous materials.
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety department or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the EHS department.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred education level: a high school diploma and/or GED. It is desirable for the employee to possess additional specific related training.
  • Preferred experience level: basic knowledge of paint/coatings, mixing procedures, etc., and three to twelve months of related manufacturing experience with the ability to use several types of related equipment.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to convert various measurements (i.e., gallons to quarts, pints to gallons, etc.) required.
  • The ability to operate a forklift with forklift driving certification is strongly preferred and the ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and written.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Clean work habits and some skill in handling large volumes of liquid.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • The ability to use the following tools is preferred: calculator, computer, pipe wrench, bung wrench, pliers, hex key, screwdriver, ratchet, crimper, mallet, scales, pumps, filter housings, and paint shaker.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls, and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb, or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
