Position Overview:

The Materials Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of Daisy Brand's three dairy manufacturing facilities. They will oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of essential materials and supplies, maintaining optimal inventory levels and onboarding new suppliers. This role is crucial in guaranteeing that high-quality materials are received at a reasonable cost, contributing to the production of superior dairy products. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for the dairy industry, committed to driving efficiency and excellence in material management.

Key Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Management



  • Identifying and addressing problems related to supply chain, material shortages, or quality issues - liaison, working with suppliers, setting expectations.
  • Assessing vendor performance through quarterly scorecards.
  • Controlling inventory levels and ensuring the availability of materials during emergencies.
  • Overseeing the disposal of surplus or obsolete materials in line with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards specific to dairy manufacturing.


Forecasting and Scheduling



  • Coordinating with other departments to forecast material needs, including dairy ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Ensuring materials are delivered on time to facilitate production schedules and meet dairy product demand.


Procedure Development and Record Keeping



  • Developing and implementing material management policies and procedures specific to dairy manufacturing.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all inventory and ordering processes.
  • Conducting regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy - weekly and annual.


Team Leadership



  • Managing and mentoring the materials buyers team.



Qualifications & Experience:



  • 5+ years experience as a Materials Manager or similar role in food/beverage industry
  • Experience in supply chain management and inventory control
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of forecasting and budgeting
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • A problem-solver with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • BS degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or relevant field
