Responsibilities

A Graduate Registered Nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the Graduate Registered Nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. "Supervision" means that a licensed Registered Nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the Graduate Registered Nurse is practicing. The Graduate Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Graduate Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care within the Medical/Surgical Unit. The Graduate Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He / She communicates with physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.

The Graduate Registered Nurse must take the NCLEX-RN within three months of hiring.
The temporary Graduate Nurse Permit will expire immediately and the individual will no longer be eligible to work.


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program
2. Current Temporary Graduate Nurse Permit
3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current NRP certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current
