Tax Senior / Supervisor

Support tax team in preparation and review of basic to complex federal and state income tax returns for various business entities, individuals, and related tax compliance activities. Assist in preparation of annual tax provision and other financial audit support tasks. Perform income tax related research and support any federal, state and local tax audits. Assist with maintenance of accurate tax related fixed asset records for all affiliated entities. Assist with other tax and regulatory projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Prepare basic to complex S-corporation, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns, including state and local returns
  • Prepare quarterly income tax estimates, extensions, and tax projections
  • Prepare and file monthly/quarterly/annual local sales & use and property tax returns and business regulatory filings; assist with audits thereof
  • Record payments in NetSuite
  • Assist with NetSuite reports for various projects
  • Assist in other income tax compliance activities, filings, payments, tax planning and controversies
  • Assist with Canadian income tax compliance activities
  • Prepare monthly and annual tax related fixed asset accounting and roll-forwards using AMSI/SAGE Software
  • Apply tax rules, maintain fixed assets, and generate reports for income tax compliance and reporting
  • Assist with fixed asset special projects
  • Assist tax director with annual income tax provision and related projects
  • Assist tax director with reconciling general ledger accounts, including tax, investment, intercompany, and loan accounts for a complex group of related companies and prepare journal entries
  • Perform special projects as assigned
  • Research tax issues and positions as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. However, this role will act as a lead on the team with review, mentoring, and training responsibilities. This role will also coordinate with other departments and staff on a regular basis.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required, CPA or JD required or in progress, with a Master's degree in Taxation or LLM preferred; minimum of five years professional tax and accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility; strong federal tax compliance experience and technical skills.

Must have ability to complete assigned projects with minimal guidance, within time constraints and deadlines, and determine accuracy and reliability of data generated both within and outside of areas of responsibility. Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Must have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and advanced Excel skills. Previous experience with individual, trust, gift, S-Corporation and Partnership tax compliance activities, and ASC 740 reporting are a plus. Previous experience with FAS (Best Software) or other fixed asset software, general ledger software, tax compliance software such as ProSystem FX, and tax research products strongly preferred. Previous experience with NetSuite is a plus.

Language Skills:

Fluent in English in both verbal and written communications. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and tax law or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

High level of attention to detail. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Salary: We maintain broad salary ranges for our roles in order to account for variations in experience, training skills, geographic location, and market conditions, as well as to reflect our differing products and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting.
