Hourly Pay Range:

$58.50 - $90.68 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Job Summary:

As the Manager of Data Science at Endeavor Health you will be responsible for leading our data science and machine learning (ML) domains. This position will oversee end-to-end machine learning and data science projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure the alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will be both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader, capable of fostering innovation and enhancing the company's data science capabilities. The scope of this role spans the oversight of traditional predictive modeling efforts inclusive of both internal development as well as oversight, intake, and monitoring of vendor-provided predictive modeling solutions. This will involve the oversight of Epic's Nebula Cognitive Computing environment where predictive modes are deployed and managed into clinical and operational workflows. In addition, will oversee the implementation and management of advanced AI solutions inclusive of natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and Generative AI. This will include vendor platform decisions and the engineering of AI environments in the cloud.

To be successful in this role, you will be expected to remain updated on the latest solutions and technologies and advocate for the adoption of industry best practices.

What you will do:

  • Lead and coordinate the gathering and analyzing of various types of data that provide risk adjustment, predictive algorithms, and other mathematical and non-mathematical models.
  • Lead the full cycle of iterative data exploration, including hypothesis formulation, algorithm development, data cleansing, testing, insight generation/visualization, and action planning as well as monitoring of these systems for accuracy and bias.
  • Lead the technical development of novel tools that incorporate models that recommend action and guide decision-making.
  • Oversees the Epic predictive modeling and AI tools and partners closely with clinical informatics, Epic analysts, and digital teams to deploy AI solutions in to clinical and operational workflows (e.g. Nebula, Cognitive Computing, etc).
  • Liaise with customers at all levels of the organization and serves as a subject matter expert in advanced analytics, Data Science, and predictive modeling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional data science, EDW, and Epic teams to curate pipelines and solutions that align with MLOps processes.
  • Must understand how the application of analytical techniques correlates to business value and will necessitate being able to select the appropriate analytical techniques for the problem at hand.
  • Establishes relationships with domain leaders to understand strategic business needs and user needs; identifies business requirements to guide specifications for ease of business operations.
  • Lead or participate in governance and prioritization committees to collaborate with key stakeholders about priority and workload.
  • Develop and promote a research agenda that includes posters, presentations and papers on Trusted AI development and deployment.

What you will need:

  • Education: Master's degree in information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of experience managing processes, applications, or systems in a healthcare setting or relevant related industries.
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience as defined as essential to the role.
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills essential.
  • Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with efficiency.
  • Strong domain knowledge and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, lead and implement initiatives.
  • Personal and ethical accountability.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking for problem solving / issue resolution.
  • A lean towards curiosity, out of the box thinking and innovative.
  • Focus on people and active engagement in recruitment and retention.
  • Expert knowledge with business intelligence tools, data warehousing applications, or statistical packages (i.e. Cognos, Business Objects, Informatica, SSIS, SAS, Python, SPSS, R) and the ability to program and manipulate complex datasets in relational databases is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency programming PL/SQL, SAS, R, or other related languages is required.
