Job Summary:Through the CFI EHSS Department, this position is responsible for providing day-to-day support to Operations, Maintenance, and the contractor workforce by implementing specific Process Safety Management (PSM) programs by providing coaching on many of the 14 elements of PSM, including management of change (MOC) steps, incident investigations, conducting audits and inspections of program requirements, providing information on PSM systems, assistance with mechanical integrity (MI) considerations, and other general PS tasks. Must be able to maintain a strong working knowledge of a wide variety of PSM regulations and issues and perform tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and develop similar understanding of and for compliance with CFI Company standards.

Responsibilities
- Promote safe work practices and conditions within the complex by coaching employees (i.e., using communication skills, mentoring, developing trust, etc.). Retain an overall understanding of the processes and regulatory PS requirements and foster a working relationship with facility employees to assist in compliance with requirements.
- Consult with Safety to assist the EHSS Department in providing a timely response to employee suggestions and concerns about PS impacts.
- Assist with revision of PSM procedures by providing feedback to EHSS Department contacts on implementation and improvements.
- Assist plant supervision/management in addressing PS concerns and implementing acceptable practices/conditions.
- Assist in initiating appropriate controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) to reduce PS hazards to the lowest levels feasible. This includes PS programs such as (occupied) portable building management, facility siting study controls, and MOC implementation steps in the field.
- Participate in Job Hazard/Safety Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) that are completed in assigned areas to help ensure PS issues are identified and addressed.
- Through personal contacts with plant employees (e.g., hold/attend morning safety discussions, interact with small work groups, conduct EHS training sessions, etc.), ensure employees have the skills, knowledge, and training to effectively implement the corporate and facility EHSS policies.
- Monitor daily plant activities to assist with questions or concerns.
- Review and provide oversight of regulatory requirements ensuring compliance with existing PSM regulations and Company initiatives and standards for the complex. Collect and assess data on PSM program effectiveness.
- Perform regular PS audits and inspections of equipment, work areas, and practices. Ensure compliance with PSM regulations and address any non-compliance issues promptly. Regular review of active PSSRs.
- Provide coaching, guidance and support on PS hazard identification, risk prevention and mitigation, regulations, and policies to promote safe work practices and conditions.
- Participate in meetings, routine field audits and inspections.
- Champion PS operational excellence including implementing established procedures and protocols for each job, identifying environmental concerns, and communicating findings using established procedures.
- Understand and comply with established processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of management internal controls deficiencies.
- Responsible for contacting field safety coordinator for assistance related to safety matters encountered on a daily basis.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Experience with PSM standards and their application in the field.
- Experience with PSM audits and inspections.
- Strong knowledge of relevant PSM standards.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead training sessions and foster a positive Safety culture.
- Working understanding of chemical operations, PS Management systems and metrics.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; including the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks with competing demands
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local standards, codes, regulations, and laws
- Meet position Fit-for-Duty requirements
- Maintain/carry current TWIC card and valid Driver's License
Work Experience, Education, and Certifications (preferred)
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in PSM
- 4-year or 2-year degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
