Department Overview

PG&E's Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary

Position headquarters flexible throughout the PG&E service territory. Right now this position is "hybrid", with a 1x month in the office expectation (this is subject to change due to business needs).

Translate complex procedural information based on business requirements and standards into user-friendly references such as Policy and Procedures, user manuals and job aids. Collaborating with and gather information from internal and external clients to develop documentation that is easy to understand and use. Performs document editing, editing written materials prepared by other writers, document lifecycle management, basic web setup and document publishing.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $78,000

Bay Area Maximum: $116,000

Responsibilities:

Policy and Procedures Development and Management

  • Provide operational consulting for document/content development for internal/external clients.
  • Design, develop, and manage SharePoint sites for Policy and Procedures
  • Design document management and retention processes and maintains departmental document systems.
  • Create Policy and Procedures, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides
  • Use PG&E GDI (Guidance Document Initiative) standards in developing Policy and Procedures
  • Editing documentation for content and compliance

Project Management

  • Write task analyses and documentation plans to establish project goals, content, parameters, and deadlines in relation to new technical document
  • Project manages Policy and Procedure, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides development. Tracks deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements in project plan.

Document Lifecycle

  • Interviews and collaborates with subject matter experts, develops document content, applies GDI principals, facilitate document reviews and revisions, and manages ongoing documentation issues and lifecycle.
  • Documentation Reviews-Ensures the technical accuracy, quality, and business compliance
  • Produces final documents as defined in the documentation plan and creates and maintains document and systems.

Deliverables

  • Take complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience.
  • Produces Manuals and Guides, including Administration, Configuration, Installation, Operation, Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process, and User.
  • Develops procedures and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in relation to document management
  • Develops Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates.
  • Develops Graphics: flowcharts and organization charts
  • Full understanding of technical/professional concepts
  • Selects from different methods, approaches and tactics to achieve documentation goals and needs
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work, Supervisor sets priorities and reviews work as needed

Process Mapping

  • Conducting process mapping, leveraging process mining techniques, and implementing business process governance frameworks.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and process requirements.
  • Working with business and technical stakeholders to identify and analyze process variations, document gaps, and propose solutions for improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of related work experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the use of SAPandSignavio
  • Experience in content management, process improvement, and project management in the development of a wide range of business documentation deliverables
  • Proficient in documentation technologies and processes.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
