Position Summary:

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for creating new, and expanding existing, business by understanding and communicating SkyWater's capabilities and technical value proposition, defining technical requirements, and ensuring customers realize their needs will be met at SkyWater. The Solutions Engineer will partner with the Sales, Technology Development and Business teams to target, scope and win new business. The Solutions Engineer will work directly with partners, customers, and internal teams on new opportunities.

Major Areas of Accountability:

Guide partners and customer through technical and operational aspects to launch initial product or projects and serve as the primary interface between customer and internal groups up through project kick-off:





    • Be the primary technical interface between customer and SkyWater prior to Purchase Order.
    • Meet with customers and leverage experience and expertise to demonstrate technology, address customer obstacles, and advance opportunities to booked business.
    • Partner with customer and internal teams to deliver a project proposal designed to achieve customer success and internal business goals.
    • Foster close connections with customer stakeholders and position SkyWater as a Trusted Innovation Advisor and Partner (vs a transactional vendor).
    • Support BUs in internal business development for government project and program proposals.
    • Develop technical solutions with the engineering and business teams that meet long-term market needs by driving engagements through key partners to pull technology offerings forward.




Build project proposals to assist with new and continuation opportunity booking:





    • Collaborate with sales and technology development to communicate market and customer wants and needs.
    • Assist SkyWater technology development group during scoping process to interpret and clarify customer process integration requirements, aligned with broader market needs, as well as to identify alternative integration options.
    • Produce customer project/program proposals and SOWs in close coordination with business unit to gain approval to ensure proposal supports SkyWater business objectives.
    • Collaborate with sales opportunity owner to present new business proposals to customers and provide technical support to sales and BU throughout negotiations to close business.
    • Write fully compliant proposals including all required certifications and pricing justification per customer RFPs




Additional responsibilities and aptitudes.





    • Communicate win/loss justification from customers, identify technical gaps and propose solutions to enhance SkyWater success, and competitive position based on technical capabilities.
    • Become an expert in our technologies and platforms to support new customer acquisition.
    • Work with tool vendors and understand 200mm equipment market landscape and understand process capability opportunities.
    • Attend conferences to represent SkyWater, make connections, and learn more about customer needs.





Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's in Engineering

Experience:



  • 6+ years in a field applications, design, or process development or integration role in semiconductor industry
  • Strong technical skills to effectively communicate with customer experts.
  • Possess exceptional communication/interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to lead presentations up to and including industry partners and C-suite participants.
  • Demonstrated and documented customer successes including direct support of internal or external customer technology or product introduction into the fab.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a close team environment.
  • Clear problem-solving capability: data driven, inventive solution-oriented and a well articulate thought process.
  • Effective time and financial management skills
  • Proficient computer skills such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Smartsheet, Tableau & Salesforce
  • This role requires a willingness and ability to obtain a security clearance up to and including TS/SCI
  • US Citizenship Required: This position will require the holding of or ability to obtain government security clearance which requires U.S Citizenship.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Masters or PhD in Engineering
  • Experience in semiconductor industry ideally in field applications, technology development, or process or equipment engineering role

Physical Requirements:



  • 15% Travel + willingness to work on site 60%
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 12 lbs
  • Ability to work 12 hours shifts
  • Ability to work with and around chemicals
  • Wear complete fab attire for an entire shift and meet all safety and cleanroom requirements

The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $165,000. Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job-related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
