Unit Highlights

An operating room registered nurse at Medstar Washington Hospital Center provides care to patients during surgical procedures. The operating room nurse is an essential member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team of professionals working together to complete a successful surgery. The Operating room nurse is the main line of communication between the patient, their family, and the surgeon and serves as an advocate on behalf of our patients at their most vulnerable time. During surgery, the operating room nurse works side by side with the surgical and anesthesia teams in both the scrub and circulating roles to deliver quality and safe care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Prior Clinical Nursing Experience in the CardiovascularOperating Room
• Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
