The Services and Support Operations (SSO) is a global leader of integrated MRO services and support. Engineer III (SSO Division - Location: Kalamazoo, MI)

Position Summary

The Customer Support Engineer will provide Hydraulic System products in-service support for the Hydraulic Systems Division (HSD) in Kalamazoo, MI. He or She will work closely with customers to monitor system performance and look for product trends that may affect system reliability. Frequently interface with customers to present system project status.

SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION:

Interaction is primarily within Parker and core team or cross-functional internal teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides technical services to the customer and solves product in-service/aftermarket problems/issues of fundamental scope within the Hydraulic Systems division, by applying product and field-specific engineering skills and general aerospace and related knowledge.
  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other internal teams.
  • Work closely with customers to monitor system performance and look for product trends that may affect system reliability. Help solution development for improving product reliability.
  • Develop system diagnostic tools as needed, to assist in troubleshooting and isolation of faults
  • Develop systems and component-level training for system familiarization by maintenance personnel, including fault diagnostics, to reduce unscheduled removals of hardware
  • Develop goals and objectives to complete major customer support engineering projects related to systems by reviewing proposals, plans, presentations, customer requirements and impacts, and conferring with management
  • Support sales campaigns by providing technical expertise to sales individuals
  • Identify possible product improvements to promote future sales
  • Ability to travel 25% of time to customer sites, suppliers and Parker Aerospace Service Centers worldwide

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in an engineering or science technical discipline.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4-6 years of related experience
  • Has thorough knowledge of product area and domain and develops breadth of knowledge of industry practices, techniques, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages. May require capability using specialized software applications or languages.
  • Ability to apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied. Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
