The Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Test Equipment, Staff Project Lead.Reporting to the Senior Staff Project Engineer, you will be based in East Aurora. This role requires a minimum of three days on-site and more as business dictates.

The Staff Project Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading regional project activities to ensure the successful delivery of complex Test Systems that meet customer requirements. This includes ensuring safety, high quality, on-time delivery, and adherence to budget.

These Test Systems supportDepot-Level Test CapabilityandProduction Acceptance Testingfor a wide range ofMoog Military Aircraft Flight Control Systems and Components.

This position will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of new or upgraded Test Systems within the assigned region. Collaborating closely with customers, including theU.S. NavyandU.S. Air Force, to define requirements and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle. In addition a key aspect of this position will be coordinating with internal engineering teams and an approved pool of vendors to manage all aspects of project deployment.

The Test Systems may include a combination of: mechanical, electronic, electrical, software, and power distribution components.

As a Staff Project Engineering Lead, you will...

Managerial Accountability:

  • Project Management of external test equipment vendors
  • Matrix management of circa 6 staff shared across the MGS TE function and other supporting functions.

New Test Equipment:

  • Capital budget: Typically: US$ 5m to $50m Depot Stand Up Project cost
  • Deployment of projects: typically, 18 to 36 months

Scope:

  • Major Project - One Project as dedicated Staff Project Engineering Lead
  • Minor projects - up to five at any one time with deployment across Military Aircraft Group and to external Customers

Project Delivery Oversight

  • Ensure fulfillment of testing capabilities in line with contractual requirements through effective project management of selected test equipment vendors.

Proposal Development

  • Create and present comprehensive Test Equipment Proposals, including resource-loaded schedules, to both internal and external stakeholders.

Specification Authoring

  • Develop accurate and detailed Test Equipment Requirement Specifications and Statements of Work to support Requests for Quotation (RFQs) from external vendors.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams and manage external vendors across multiple locations to define and deliver complex test system solutions in accordance with established development processes and procedures.

Project Management

  • Manage project schedules, resource planning, and financial forecasting. Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management.

Documentation Management

  • Generate, update, and formally release Test Equipment documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Contractor Coordination

  • Act as Contractor Coordinator by reviewing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), conducting inductions, and overseeing subcontractor activities at Moog or customer facilities.

Issue Resolution Support

  • Coordinate timely resolution of Corrective Actions, Significant Issues, and Non-Conformances related to Test Equipment systems, components, or processes.

Root Cause Analysis

  • Support investigations into root causes of issues affecting Test Equipment systems and components.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety practices. Identify and address new risks, contribute to the development and review of Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance during all work activities.

Audit Support

  • Support internal and external quality audits of deployed Test Equipment systems.

Other Requirements

  • This position requires domestic and international travelto customer sites, vendor locations, and other Moog facilities, accounting for approximately25% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications to be considered...

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Project Management, Aeronautical)
  • Minimum of 10 yrs experience in design and development testing within a relevant engineering sector (Aerospace, Automotive, Test Equipment).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sub-contract management for the procurement of Test Equipment within a relevant engineering sector.
  • Experienced in the use of MS Project
  • A Project Management qualification (APM, etc) would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Must be able to obtain US/ UK Security Clearance as applicable.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $150,000.00-$180,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
