Job Details

Under general supervision of the Accounts Receivable Manager, responsible for posting cash and performing tasks that require quick resolution to cash issues; includes providing account reconciliation; performs payment research; provides considerable assistance to divisions in problem resolution; interacts with customers as needed; acts as back-up in manager's absence.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for importing Bank One lockbox (checks) and JPMorganChase (wires) on a daily basis.

  • Distributes copies of cash advices to cash applicators for timely and accurate relief of AR.

  • Applies all payment batches to the appropriate 050 customer accounts for posting cash receipts to open accounts receivable.

  • Works directly with treasury group and Bank One contacts to resolve unforeseen cash related issues.

  • Prepares and distributes daily wire receipt advice to five regions.

  • Requests and distributes chain receipts reports to appropriate cash applicator; work with Mainframe IT group when SAR and Chain Receipts Reports do not print.

  • Identifies payment discrepancies, and initiates dispute resolution process to facilitate rapid turn around in collection effort; performs follow up procedures as needed including sending out back-up documentation when available.

  • Performs in-depth customer payment analysis to properly record purchases as they relate to deposit accounts.

  • Maintains frequent contact with internal and external customers in order to address all payment issues.

  • Acts to back up AR Manager and provides assistance to corporate cash application associates and regional associates when required.

  • Works with Regional Accounts Receivable Managers in reconciliation efforts on national and governmental accounts.

  • Acts as support to department as needed based on workload requirements, and as absentee back ups.

  • Provides assistance to associates with procedural questions.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education; normally requires five (5) to eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of credit and collection operations procedures, including reconciliation of A/R activity.

  • Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise is a must.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.

  • Outstanding mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills; attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
