Position summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Civil Engineer to lead and grow our civil site practice in the Charleston, SC office. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual with a proven track record in business development, staff management, and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the site civil group, cultivating client relationships, pursuing new business opportunities, and ensuring the overall financial success of the practice.

Key responsibilities include managing multidisciplinary teams, overseeing design and permitting for site development projects, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, local market knowledge, and a passion for expanding our presence in the Lowcountry region.

Essential functions and responsibilities



  • Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders
  • Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development
  • Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly
  • Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
  • Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff
  • Establish resources staffing needs for the section
  • Interview and hire staff for the section
  • Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • Professional Engineer License or equivalent
  • 10+ years' experience in site civil engineering
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


Preferred Experience



  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
  • Supervisory experience


Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
