Responsibilities

The Operations Director plays a critical role in the effective management of both administrative and clinical operations within the organization. This position requires a dynamic leader who can partner with program leaders to ensure the successful execution of Newport's mission, vision, and values while focusing on key business areas such as team management, regulatory compliance, service excellence, finance, business development, marketing, and admissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Planning and Implementation:

    • Develop, organize, and execute routine operational elements and initiatives aimed at enhancing program effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Identify and assess the needs of the program and staff, proactively addressing concerns and proposing improvements.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Joint Commission standards and licensing regulations.
    • Ensure that the program operates in accordance with Newport's policies, procedures, and standards, as well as applicable regulatory requirements.
  3. Staff Engagement and Support:

    • Conduct daily rounds to connect with staff and onsite teams, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
    • Address staff concerns and provide guidance to enhance team performance and morale.
  4. Operational Oversight:

    • Oversee local operations, including residential, clinical, facilities, nursing, and culinary services.
    • Collaborate with admissions, clinical outreach, utilization review, and alumni operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  5. Performance Management:

    • Ensure that operations meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to client/family/referent satisfaction, treatment completion, employee turnover, and operational EBITDA.
    • Participate in the preparation and analysis of KPI reports, utilizing data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  6. Strategic Development:

    • Use insights from KPI data and observations to propose strategies and tactics aimed at maximizing operational opportunities and enhancing service delivery.
  7. Additional Duties:

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in behavioral health operations required.
  • Must have experience as a Program Director, Executive Director or Clinical and Operations Manager within an RTC, acute psychiatric hospital, a large psychiatric unit of an acute care hospital or other behavioral health treatment environment.
  • Working knowledge of behavioral health management practices and clinical operations.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory and various accreditation requirements related to behavioral health management.
  • Working knowledge of operations and financial management and marketing frameworks.

Compensation for this role ranges from $125,000 - $159,000 annually depending on education and experience.
