Job Summary

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and long-term development of FIU Embrace's postsecondary education program. This role provides advanced administrative and student support, ensuring students with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive high-quality academic, vocational, and social guidance throughout their college experience. Works closely with students, families, faculty, and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth transitions, academic success, and program
engagement.

  • Supports onboarding of new students and maintain updated educational plans, including course schedules, registration assistance, and program of study documentation.
  • Provides academic guidance and course selection support in alignment with students' goals and capabilities.
  • Serves as liaison between students, faculty, Graduate Assistants, mentors, and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) counselors to coordinate services and ensure timely documentation and tuition processing.
  • Organize and maintain secure, up-to-date records for all students, academic mentors, faculty mentors, Graduate Assistants, and volunteers.
  • Deliver independent living skills seminars and support students in building critical life and self-advocacy skills.
  • Track and monitor student academic performance through regular check-ins, collaboration with faculty, and documentation of progress indicators.
  • Plan and coordinate program events, student workshops, and enrichment activities that foster academic and social skill development.
  • Develop and manage timelines, calendars, and flowcharts to guide key programmatic activities and deadlines.
  • Process travel reimbursements and manage procurement paperwork for students and staff attending professional development events.
  • Collect and maintain data to monitor program outcomes and assist with reports required by funders and stakeholders.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and support of academic and social mentors.
  • Communicate effectively with students and families, including individuals with limited English proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of office or related experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual (e.g. Spanish, Creole).
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
