Description

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Support Services Worker to join our Operations Department

Position Summary

The Support Service Worker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of all agency facilities through routine housekeeping, laundry, and light maintenance tasks. This includes daily or periodic cleaning and decorating of public areas, offices, and children's living quarters. The position is also responsible for managing agency laundry needs, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and other items as required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5pm

Qualifications

MINIMUM Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a Child Welfare or residential setting
  • Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD


Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • Capable of vigorous physical activity, including bending, stooping, kneeling, walking to different campus locations.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly handling agency-approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Able to safely operate job-specific machinery (vacuum cleaner, floor buffer, IMOP, kitchen equipment, etc.)
  • Able to safely operate an agency vehicle in accordance with NYS motor vehicle law. Safely operate specific machinery (lawn mower, plow, kitchen equipment)
  • Ability to negotiate step ladders not in excess of eight feet.
