Introduction

The Treasurer is a locally elected constitutional officer whose duties are mandated by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances. The Treasurer is elected at-large for a four-year term and provides direct service to all Loudoun residents and businesses. The principal functions of the Treasurer's Office include billing and collecting taxes for real and personal property, business licenses, and other services as specified by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances; acting as primary depository of revenue for all County agencies, including Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS); investing and safeguarding County funds; reconciling County funds to bank and investment accounts; and providing outstanding customer service to taxpayers, County staff, and LCPS staff.


Job Summary

The Loudoun County Treasurer's Office is currently seeking a highly qualified and motivated applicant for the position of Operations Specialist.

This position serves as a cross-functional support role within the Treasurer's Office and acts as a "floater," providing assistance across multiple teams depending on departmental needs. The Operations Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service to citizens, performing collection functions related to real, personal, business, and fiduciary taxes, accepting and processing tax payments, handling Real Estate Exonerations submitted from other divisions, and issuing refunds for tax adjustments. The position may also be assigned other office operations and duties as necessary.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable to changing priorities, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and proven commitment to customer service excellence are essential. The successful applicant should demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities, a collaborative approach to work, and a desire to contribute to innovation within the office.

Preferred qualifications include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Excel, as well as experience using mainframe computer systems. This position requires the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity in all systems and data management tasks.

This position is approved for hire after July 1, 2025. Hiring salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent; 4 years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background and credit check.

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Mandatory overtime is required during peak periods, including tax deadlines.
