Role Summary

Rivian is on a mission to redefine sustainable transportation and energy. We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Engineer to focus on the critical area of leak testing within our manufacturing test organization. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the entire lifecycle of the battery manufacturing process, from initial development to mass production. You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through meticulous test development and implementation. You will interface with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including product design, manufacturing engineering, controls engineering, through mass production support.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize leak test profiles for components and assemblies in our research & development (R&D), pilot, and mass-production manufacturing facilities
  • Support the management of external vendors and integrators for leak test equipment
  • Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize leak testing methodologies and improve detection sensitivity
  • Help to lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as well as installation and commissioning of new leak test equipment
  • Solve technically complex problems using fundamental, data driven methodologies
  • Partner with, and set expectations between cross functional teams to ensure stakeholder engagement and satisfaction with the engineering solutions delivered
  • Provide technical expertise and support to enable the operations team to succeed including training, documentation and trouble shooting
  • Identify and drive corrective actions for process quality and performance issues
  • Develop equipment and process specifications, assess vendor capabilities and make sourcing recommendations based on data
  • Provide in depth design for manufacture (DFM) feedback to the Product Engineering team to ensure that our assembly processes are cost efficient, robust and deliver high quality results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
  • Strong interest in manufacturing processes and quality control
  • 3D CAD modelling experience
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of data collection and analysis
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and automation is a plus
  • Experience with leak testing principles or technologies is a plus
  • Experience with electrical design principles and tools such as E-plan is a plus
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools is a plus
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as require

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Illinois based applicants: $125,000-$157,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
