As a Territory Sales Representative (TSR) - Truss, you will be responsible for growing sales within the Component Manufacturing market segment while creating and maintaining effective relationships with component manufacturing customers. Your goal for these relationships will be to promote Simpson's ICS (Integrated Component Systems) software suite, related hardware products and machinery. This encompasses job management, design and analysis for prefabricated metal plate connected wood trusses, estimating, wall panel design and engineered wood products.

You will lead and participate in training sessions/workshops in and out of the territory. These workshops require scheduling, promotion, set-up, presentation, and take-down, as well as providing observation and suggestions for improvement. You will work with Regional Sales Managers, Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and other TSRs to implement sales strategies and communicate appropriate market trends to ensure customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Drive demand and grow sales in the defined marketplace. Prospect and qualify sales opportunities through field visits, telephone, e-mail, networking, tradeshows, and industry events to achieve company business objectives. Analyze industry and market needs and develop appropriate strategies, forecast territory demand, and provide support as needed by the customer and/or company.Assist in securing and maintaining product specifications. (60%)

Ensure existing customers are utilizing the software to its greatest capability by providing sales-oriented software demonstrations and technical support. Be called on as a subject matter expect and communicate customer needs and challenges to various teams and product managers and work jointly to provide solutions. (25%)

Promote Simpson Strong-Tie as an industry partner, participate in tradeshows, association meetings and various committees. Provide educational opportunities in classroom settings throughout your territory including but not limited to truss yards, wall panel plants, and contractors. Other duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to consistent CRM management and usage, scheduling, business planning, submitting expense reports in a timely manner, regular maintenance of company-owned vehicles, and other duties as assigned (15%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design/Drafting Diploma preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience related to the design and engineering of prefabricated metal plate connected wood trusses, wall panels and engineered wood products. Understanding of wood framed construction practices, details, building codes and design standards.
  • Math: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret construction documents including architectural and structural drawings.
  • Speaking: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, coworkers and the general public.
  • Writing: Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Technical: Ability to gain product knowledge to become a trusted resource for Simpson Products and solutions as well as working with Specialists to provide support as needed.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and present captivating presentations and incorporate sales skills to step a prospect through a story.
  • Creative & Innovative Thinking: Ability to exhibit creativity and innovation when contributing to organizational and individual objectives.
  • Accountability & Dependability: Ability to fulfill all commitments made to peers, co-workers, customers and supervisor.

  • Computer/Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, Simpson Strong-Tie software and web applications. Knowledge of SQL databases a plus but not required.
  • Driving record: Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

Travel

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Riverside CA.

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$78,300 - $111,900 / year
