Summary: The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for planning and managing large scale volunteer-run programs within the hospital. This role includes recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, as well as organizing events and activities to engage and recognize their contributions. The Volunteer Services Coordinator ensures that volunteer efforts align with hospital goals and policies, fostering a supportive and effective volunteer environment.
Responsibilities:
Program Management
* Maintains the complete volunteer program lifecycle for assigned area with guidance from the Director.
* Provides direct management and oversight to the organization's volunteer staff for assigned program areas, including recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, recognition, evaluation, and retention of volunteers.
* Schedules volunteers, monitors attendance and performance, tracks volunteer hours, and maintains other records. Monitors activities to ensure quality of service.
* Works with departmental liaisons to develop service areas and ensures departments have a clear understanding of the tasks and roles of volunteers.
* Reviews budget line items and maintains accurate spend record in conjunction with the Director.
Staff and Volunteer Management
* Recruits, interviews, and selects volunteers. Evaluates individual aptitudes, abilities, qualifications, interests, and availability, and places individuals accordingly. Verifies background screenings.
* Develops and implements orientation programs. Ensures volunteers comply with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Manages, plans, recruits and orients Youth Volunteers yearly.
Program/Event Planning and Implementation
* Plans, implements, and oversees volunteer-run programs, arranges speakers, and events, including registration and orientations. Prepares all program materials.
* Plans and organizes annual and special events, including all logistics such as food, locations, speakers, etc., related to volunteer activities.
* Plans and implements advance publicity for events, arranges registrations, and orientations.
Evaluation and Recognition
* Develops evaluation and recognition events for volunteers and service areas.
* Maintains volunteer service records and prepares reports as needed.
Compliance and Issue Resolution
* Communicates and enforces function-specific and hospital-wide policies and procedures.
* Receives and investigates all complaints concerning volunteers; determines the veracity of such issues with the support and approval of the Director.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered - see Professional Experience Requirements.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* If a Bachelor's degree: Two (2) years of work in volunteer services which has provided the required skills
* If an Associate's degree: Six (6) years of work in volunteer services which has provided the required skills
* If a High School diploma or GED: Ten (10) years of work in volunteer services which has provided the required skills .
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Microsoft office skills; detail oriented; ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
