What We Do and How We Do It

Kaleidoscope is a free art-making space for kids and their accompanying adults. The Hallmark Visitors Center (HVC) is a free exhibit space that shares the story of the Hallmark company. The two sites represent and share Hallmark's passion for enriching people's lives by helping them connect, communicate, and create.

As part of the team that shapes and leads approaches that create positive, memorable experiences for kids and their families, the Kaleidoscope Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating a variety of high-quality programs and activities in the Kaleidoscope studio and online. These programs support Kaleidoscope's mission by extending Kaleidoscope's reach, deepening guest participation, and empowering kids' creativity in new and interesting ways.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Program Development:



  • Collaborate with the Kaleidoscope Experience Supervisor and other team members to develop special on-site programs. These may include seasonal, anniversary, or other themed activities for the Kaleidoscope studio, special programs for specific audiences (ages or needs), as well as creative recharges for teachers and Hallmark employee and business/partner groups.
  • Contribute to the planning and creation of content for Kaleidoscope's social media, website, and other digital communications.
  • Participate in coordinating materials for programming, assist with exhibit work, and supports Kaleidoscope's Volunteer Program.



Program Delivery:



  • Regularly introduce and facilitate programs and experiences in the Kaleidoscope studio that encourage open-ended exploration, process-driven art making, and the freedom for kids to use their full imaginations.
  • Greet guests and handles visitor-service related tasks when working at Kaleidoscope's front desk.
  • Use insights from observation and evaluation, as well as working knowledge of child development and art education trends, to revise activities, make program modifications, and test new ideas.
  • Keep program materials and supplies stocked, maintained, and organized. Inventories and orders materials and supplies, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Kaleidoscope team members on studio set-up and clean-up throughout the day.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude, and exemplifies Hallmark's high standard of ethics and caring in all guest interactions



Saturday Team Lead:



  • With the Manager on Duty, monitor Saturday operations and ensures studio sessions run smoothly.
  • Provide guidance and support for Saturday staff.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of special Saturday programs and attendance.
  • Ensure studio equipment shutdown and proper lobby closedown.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:



  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Minimum one-year professional experience working with children in an education setting.
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout studio 90 minutes at a time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your application will stand out if you have:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum one-year experience working in a public-facing role, such as program delivery, customer service, or museum docent.
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning strategies employed in a variety of environments.
  • Must be able to effectively engage and communicate with individuals and groups of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively move between public-facing work and office work.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.



      ADDITIONAL DETAILS:



      • The work schedule is Tuesday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm and Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Additional expected workdays include days surrounding holidays and days when Hallmark's corporate offices may be closed, as well as occasional days for meetings, trainings, and professional development.
      • This is an on-site, in-person position at the Hallmark Visitors Center, located at Hallmark's Headquarters in the Crown Center area in downtown Kansas City.
      • Relocation will not be provided
