Pulmonary Support Coordinator - Interstitial Lung Disease
Department: Pulmonary Medicine

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to support the Pulmonary Medicine Department, with a primary focus on patients with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). While the role will initially center around ILD care coordination, there is potential for expansion to support additional providers within the Pulmonary division.

This is a clerical, non-nursing role that requires strong communication, coordination, and administrative skills. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of VCU Health System operations, EPIC (electronic medical records), clinical scheduling templates, and medical terminology.

Key Responsibilities:

*Coordinate ILD clinic appointments and related diagnostic testing.
*Serve as a point of contact for patients, assisting them in navigating their care plans.
*Process medication prior authorizations and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) orders.
*Obtain and manage external medical records not available through EPIC.
*Provide clerical and logistical support to pulmonary providers.
*Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and departments to ensure smooth care delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

*Experience within VCU Health System (VCUHS)
*Proficiency with EPIC, including use of templates and scheduling workflows
*Familiarity with medical terminology
*Previous experience in a clinical support or clerical healthcare role

Required Experience:

*Minimum of four (4) years of secretarial or administrative work experience in an office setting
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with email/calendar systems

Required Education/Training

*High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:

*Associate degree in business, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited program

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of four (4) years of previous secretarial/administrative work experience in an office setting.
Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications and e-mail/calendaring.

Experience PREFERRED:
Five (5) years of previous secretarial/administrative work experience in an office setting.
Previous experience in an academic health care setting.

Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:
Associate Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field from an accredited program

Independent action(s) required:
Project management and communication with a variety of individuals/entities and decision making.
