Research Senior Technician in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, working under the supervision of Dr. Wandi Zhu. The Zhu Lab investigates mechano-electrical signaling in cardiomyocytes, blood, and endothelial cells to develop novel treatments for cardiovascular and other common diseases. Utilizing both real-world clinical samples/data and zebrafish models, the lab aims to develop cutting-edge techniques and high-throughput platforms to enable personalized disease risk prediction and therapeutic targeting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participation in the conceptualization and design of complex laboratory experiments.

  • Performs experimental techniques, including PCR reactions, cell culture, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and flow cytometry.

  • Maintains and characterizes cell and zebrafish lines.

  • Keeps experimental records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results.

  • Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts. Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, grants, posters, and abstracts.

  • Assists with training of undergraduate and graduate students and other lab staff in research methods and equipment operation.

  • Oversees and initiates procurement of lab supplies as needed.

  • Coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.

  • Maintains accuracy of and compliance with lab safety, IACUC, and IRB protocols.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Desired skills and experience: Previous wet lab experience in biomedical science is preferred.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in biomedical science or equivalent combination of education experience; 0-1 years relevant experience required; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
