Job Overview
Sr. Engineer, System Architecture in Cell Site Designs Team is a technical position, which develops and evolves cell site design strategies to maintain, enhance, and evolve T-Mobile technology portfolio. This role involves close collaboration with RAN vendors to identify and define requirements 12-24 months ahead of deployment, ensuring alignment with T-Mobile's RAN hardware and software roadmap. Key responsibilities include creating cell sites designs, MOPs and standard processes, leading PoC or FOA to improve network performance and user experience, data analytics & reporting, and driving cross-functional ecosystem development. Additional duties may involve designing network and service schematics, selecting appropriate technology evolution paths, analyzing test results or simulations and creating dashboards/reports. Strong communication skills are essential to convey complex ideas effectively. The position demands initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently on technically challenging assignments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in 3G/4G/5G/5G Advanced technologies with a deep understanding of system protocols, data flows, and end-to-end wireless network architecture, including IP and cloud. Able to assess the impact of new services on network performance. Proactive in staying current with industry trends. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Roadmap/Vendor Management: Drives RAN vendors to meet T-Mobile requirements and close technical gaps. Influences architecture, design strategies, and standards across functional organizations to align with the RAN roadmap and long-term technology vision.
- Functional, Deployment, and Operational Design: Create HW cell site designs (radios, basebands, cabinets and site support systems), MOPs, and standard operational processes to achieve best network performance in a future-proof & cost-effective way
- Network Validation: Support Lab and FOA of new HW/features/services to ensure successful field deployment to improve customer experience. Also support PoC (proof of concept) trials ahead of final product availability for ecosystem development.
- Financial Acumen: Understand key financial concepts such as CAPEX/OPEX, total cost of ownership, and HW depreciation. Analyze design options through a financial lens to aid strategic decisions.
- Innovation: Identifies and contributes ideas to improve designs, processes, or products by reducing cost, increasing efficiency, or enhancing quality. Applies industry trends to propose practical improvements and actively engages in team discussions.
- Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus and collaborate across cross-functional teams. Develops and maintains effective partnerships to exchange information, align goals, and drive results.
- Communication & Technical Writing: Communicates effectively across teams, both verbally and in writing. Prepares technical documentation-including architecture, design standards, and requirements-and translates complex topics into business-relevant insights. Articulates technical issues in terms of business impact and benefits.
- Work Style: Self-motivated and effective in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision. Brings a strategic mindset, challenges the status quo, and manages multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Tools and Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with tools such as Power BI, SQL, MapInfo, QXDM, TEMS, Actix, TPIM, Ericsson/Nokia scripting, and OSS navigation is a plus.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
