Job Summary

Serveas the liaison between the Electric Power Generation business unit, Expertise Centers and Corporate Environmental to ensure implementation of the corporate environmental program in the Power Generation Business Unit. Facilitate and lead in the identification, communication/reporting and resolution of environmental issues and concerns with the assistance of the Expertise Centers. Utilize Power Generation Business Unit knowledge to identify potential environmental risks as they relate to daily operations.

Essential Functions




  • Directsand manages Division Environmental Employees.


  • Serves as the liaison between the Business Unit, Expertise Center, Regulatory Agencies, and Corporate Environmental Organization.
  • Helps Business Unit operations personnel identify needs to provide technical support and guidance.
  • Serves as the primary contact for the Business Unit on potential or identified environmental issues.
  • Communicates environmental principles and objectives to management and employees to ensure understanding and incorporates same in all Business Unit practices.
  • Establishes measures and targets for environmental performance through Business Unit management and provides performance tracking and reporting.
  • Conducts periodic compliance inspections in conjunction with Corporate environmental staff/auditors.
  • Identifies environmental aspects and/or non-compliance situations that should be addressed and works with operational personnel to develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Participates in environmental liability reporting.
  • Works with the operations personnel to identify potential liabilities and to quantify the exposure.
  • Develops and maintains Business Unit environmental procedures that incorporate regulatory requirements, CNP environmental policies, and business strategy into operational practices.
  • Identifies environmental training needs for the Business Unit.
  • Coordinates with Division Environmental Employees, and Power Generation to provide necessary training. Ensures all required training is completed and documented on schedule.
  • Works with operations personnel to identify opportunities to participate in community and special interest groups that match business strategy and environmental policy.
  • Works to identify and address potential impacts from new or proposed environmental regulation.
  • In conjunction with Division Environmental Personnel, monitors and evaluates contractors' performance. Additionally, monitors cost control measures for environmental compliance.




Education Description




  • Bachelor'sDegree from accredited college or university in environmental studies.




    • or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with seven (7) or more years operations or engineering experience in the electric power generation industry inclusive of environmental responsibilities.







Experience




  • Minimumseven (7) years' experience in an environmental compliance field.



  • Electric power generation experience preferred.
