DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee a maintenance team responsible for the operation and upkeep of Department of Transportation roadside facilities, a wastewater treatment facility, and public water systems. Your duties will include monthly reporting to both Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (DOT) management, ensuring that operations remain compliant and responsive to potential issues. You will investigate operational and equipment challenges while implementing best practices. Additionally, you will manage employee schedules to guarantee continuous coverage for two shifts, seven days a week, regardless of weather conditions, pandemics, holidays, or other circumstances. Your responsibilities will also encompass monitoring employee attendance, managing leave time, and tracking daily work hours. You will organize routine daily activities to ensure a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for the public. Furthermore, you will be tasked with scheduling minor repairs, routine maintenance, upgrades, and managing snow, ice, and grass. Daily safety briefings will be conducted, and you will ensure that all team members, including yourself, are up to date on required training as mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, while also identifying and enforcing proper safety protocols. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the Class D, Subclass 1.
- This position requires possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the Class Dc, Subclass 7, 8, 9.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to operate, maintain, test, and log data on an extended aeration sewage treatment plant and public water works plant Ability to obtain the Electronic Discharge Monitoring Reporter (EDMR) Certification within the six-month probationary period - Experience working as a Class Dc, Subclass 7, 8, 9 water operator for a Non-Community, Transient GWUDI Public Water system
- Possession of an active pesticide application certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for Category 24, Swimming Pools
