Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking anexperienced Mechanical Integrity Engineerwith 10+ years of experience for an opportunity to be an integral part of our growing Fitness For Service (FFS) practice. This position will be based out of company headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois, and will partner closely with teammates based in Houston, Texas.

With an in-depth knowledge of process equipment damage mechanisms, fixed-equipment mechanical integrity (FEMI), and safety-critical FFS evaluations, you will support our established clients, while also pursuing clients and projects from your existing professional network.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical project execution, including performing detailed analysis; understanding a variety of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques and their limitations; applying a breadth of knowledge of historical industry practices, and developing innovative yet practical solutions for challenging problems

  • Project management for FFS inquiries, including client development; project scoping; assembling appropriate teams; and managing internal and external client expectations and deliverables

  • Technical practice advancement, including providing technical consultation to interdisciplinary project teams; mentoring and training up-and-coming colleagues; collaborating with other WJE subject-matter experts (SMEs); participating in in-house Technical Resource Groups (TRGs) and in-house research projects; contributing to industry articles, conference presentations, and/or technical committees; and fostering new and existing client relationships

Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical, civil, petroleum, metallurgical engineering, or related field; Advanced degree or professional qualifications (e.g., API 510, API 570, API 653) preferred

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Minimum 10 years (15+ preferred) of relevant industry experience with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:

    • fixed-equipment asset integrity

    • API 579 and other standards for evaluation of pressure vessels and pipelines

    • fracture mechanics

    • petrochemical, refining, power generation, upstream, midstream, mining, or other heavy industrial markets

  • Excellent technical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and authorization to work and travel throughout the United States without restrictions

  • Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations, including outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes

  • Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment

  • Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and other heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment

WJE offers a robust, total compensation structure, where base salary is just one component of an employee's annual earnings. Additionally, employees receive variable compensation based on personal and company performance, often resulting in above-market annual earnings. Actual base salary will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role while remaining mindful of our commitment to internal equity.A good faith estimate of the annual starting base salary (gross) is in the following range:

$95,330.00 - $158,880.00
