Overview
Are you looking for a new "Cool" career in HVAC/Refrigeration? Join the Coborn's team as a Refrigeration Specialist. As a Coborn's Refrigeration Specialist, you will install, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. To be successful, you will need to have a solid understanding of refrigeration principles, be experienced with diagnostic tools, and ensure all systems operate efficiently and safely. This role is critical in guaranteeing climate-controlled environments for food, pharmaceuticals, and other perishable goods.
- Install, inspect, and maintain refrigeration systems including coolers, cases, freezers, HVAC units, and ice machines; ensuring all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in refrigeration units using tools and technical manuals.
- Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, and thermostats.
- Perform routine maintenance and system tune-ups to prevent breakdowns and ensure energy efficiency. Preventative maintenance is minimally conducted semi-annual within the designated time frame per the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Monitor and maintain refrigerant levels, including handling and proper disposal of refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance, service calls, and repairs in maintenance tracking systems.
- Responding to refrigeration alarm calls and perform system repairs and adjustments as necessary, this may include some after hours and/or on weekends.
- Communicate effectively with external and internal teams to explain repairs and maintenance procedures.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical certification in refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of six months or more of related experience in commercial refrigeration, preferably in a grocery or retail environment.
SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES Job Skills
- Experience working with hand tools and small power tools.
- Welding experience preferred.
Computer Skills
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and email systems.
- Experience with online, web or app based work order systems.
- Working knowledge of asset management systems preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Possess a current state driver's license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations as needed.
- EPA Level 2 Certification.
